Life Care
Continuing care retirement communities (CCRC’s) or Life Care communities, offer programs that are as diverse as the number of communities available. Extensive contract plans (Type A) have an upfront entrance fee and monthly maintenance fee. This plan entitles residents to unlimited use of all services offered by the CCRC which covers the spectrum of needs between residential living and skilled nursing care.
Life care contracts are currently offered by more than 2,500 CCRC’s serving more than 600,000 residents throughout the United States.
Longwood at Oakmont, a Type A, full service Life Care community, offers an entrance fee model. The fee is 90% refundable which makes the community an even more attractive estate planning option. No additional type of nursing home insurance policy is necessary in this type of community. All days in the Health Care Center are covered under the contract.
CCRC’s are regulated by the Pennsylvania Department of Insurance and are required to file an annual financial report and an updated disclosure statement. A copy of this document is available annually.
