Truths & Testimonials:
A short video about Longwood in Real Life.

One of the residents featured in our video, Chuck Klingensmith, is a kind and welcoming soul who is also a world traveler.

“One of the reasons I decided to not have a house and to come to Longwood is to travel,” says Chuck. “I’ve been to approximately 60 countries in the world! Living here makes it possible for me to close my apartment door, leave and know that everything will be taken care of. The staff at Longwood checks on my apartment while I’m away. I don’t have to worry about water pipes breaking and water lines freezing. I can just walk out, close the door and go.”

An independent, private, non-profit organization, the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) accredits continuing care retirement communities on the basis of their financial stability and quality of care. It sets over 1,700 standards of excellence that a community must meet. Accreditation assures residents, families, care professionals, staff and vendors that the community has a five-star rating.

As a resident of Longwood at Oakmont, your family will have the peace of mind that comes with knowing that you’re living in a community with CARF Accreditation. We provide a maintenance-free and health care-secured lifestyle. If you’ve ever considered moving to Longwood at Oakmont, you’ve probably thought about how your residence at the community would compare to the one you live in now. A real life Longwood application:

For Longwood residents Jay and Carroll Labarthe, staying physically active is as easy as stepping outside. With a walking path that crosses 60 scenic acres, there’s plenty of room to ‘stretch their legs’!

“It’s very easy to get outdoors,” says Carroll. “And people say, ‘Hi’ to each other whether you know them or not. It’s a very comfortable place to live.”

“And the Wellness Center here is first-rate,” adds Jay. “We lived in Ligonier before we moved here and my wife Carroll worked out daily at the YMCA and I at a private club. The Wellness Center is as good as if not superior to what we were using.”
